Conceptos destacados de la clase

  • A new soul must work through all 613 precepts
  • A reincarnated soul only needs to complete what it is uncorrected
  • External praise, results, or feedback from others are not reliable indicators of our purpose
  • True freedom comes from manifesting our own unique attributes
  • Our responsibility and spiritual work have to be detached from the expectations of others
  • Don't measure the spiritual path by what is comfortable or someone's else validation
  • Success or recognition in an area does not mean it is our true mission
  • The areas of most resistance or aversion are ones we need to unfold

Regularly ask yourself:
Is this my unique attribute to manifest, or am I doing someone else's spiritual work?

Descripción de la clase

This week's study of the Ari's Gates of Reincarnation moves into chapter 16, exploring how our spiritual work should be guided not by what is easy or hard, but by what is uniquely ours, the specific attributes that our soul has not yet corrected from past lives. Rav Isaac Luria reveals that a brand new soul must work through all 613 precepts, but a soul that has reincarnated only needs to focus on what it is still uncorrected. That is why great sages were not equally devoted to every practice, but were fiercely devoted to the specific ones their soul still needed to complete. On this teaching, Yosef shares a powerful parable: a man was sent into the world with one mission, to find a rare blue gem, but instead he gets swept away by doing brilliant, valuable work in other people's lanes, only to return to the Creator and realize he never found the gem he was actually sent for. This story helps us stop measuring our worth by external feedback or by comparing our path to others', and instead to ask ourselves: what are my unique attributes, still waiting beneath my fears and that only I am here to reveal?

Acerca de este curso

Isaac Luria, who came to be known as The Ari (meaning ‘Lion' in Hebrew) because of his prodigious capacity for spiritual study and understanding, was a 16th century kabbalist who delved deeply into the mystical wonders of the Zohar. Commonly considered the father of contemporary Kabbalah, the Ari produced a historic commentary on the Zohar that removed many of its layers of complexity. His teachings created some of the most important kabbalistic ideas and practices used today, including the concept of tikkun, or correction of the soul. Join us for a consciousness-expanding course as we demystify the seminal writings of the Ari and connect with his righteous soul.
