Lesson Highlights

  • Ki Tetze represents our own soul, held captive by reactivity, judgment, and self-doubt
  • Before fighting what's wrong, first reconnect with what's right
  • Recalling moments of courage, love, and goodness as proof of our soul's true beauty
  • Speaking or thinking badly about ourselves adds another layer between us and our soul
  • Stop reinforcing the limited feelings and behaviors
  • Spiritual transformation starts with appreciation, not criticism

Lesson Description

This week Torah's portion Ki Tetze centers on reconnecting with the infinite essence of our own soul. Eitan explains that the verse "when you go out to battle" reminds us that nobody can't defeat the negativity through willpower alone. Our responsibility is to make a sincere and continuous effort to transform our desire to receive for the self alone. The real spiritual work during the month of Elul or Virgo is actively feeling and appreciating our soul's inherent and eternal goodness which help us reclaim the sparks of Light that we have given away to the negetive side. Doing that opens for us the blessings available at Rosh Hashanah.
