We started the week in a New Moon phase. The month of Aries is considered to be the month of freedom. To be clear, freedom is not about going on vacation or having money. It means keeping our negativity in check, so we can get closer to our divinity.
Mercury is stationed to go direct, finishing up a period in retrograde motion. When a planet is stationed to go direct, it shines brightly and sheds light on what it rules. In this case, Mercury assists us in matters of research—sorting things out with siblings or friends, or any kind of deep study. While Mercury has finished retrograding, it is still in what we call “shadow degrees.” It will pass those degrees on April 11th, so things can still go awry, as there is residue from the retrograde period. Look back on the last three weeks and reflect on how your connections with others went. Were you honest with yourself and with others? Where did you experience fear? Where did you use the water element to deepen your spiritual growth?
On Tuesday, the Sun is conjunct Saturn. On one hand, we can experience limitations. On the other hand, this allows us to take responsibility and step into leadership. The chart is now fiery, with four planets in Aries, which will accelerate that Aries energy. There are a few lessons here for us to learn. Our first lesson is to find balance. Aries is a fire sign, and as the first sign of the zodiac, it has fresh energy and tends to jump into action (whether that means helping, jumping into adventure, or being quick to fall into conflict). When Aries puts out too much energy from the beginning, it gets tired easily. Therefore, our job is to focus on persistence and steadiness. The Moon is in Taurus at the beginning of the week, so it can help ground us. Keep in mind that this will be a lesson we will be working on for the next two and a half years with Saturn in Aries.
Our second lesson is that when we choose to share, we must approach it from a spiritual perspective. If we give while expecting something in return—or even seeking acknowledgment—we limit the kind of blessings we can receive. Kabbalistically, when we are sharing in the right way, we increase our capacity to receive and then transform. But when we’re waiting for someone to give back to us, we limit the blessings. Aries will always rush to help, but it often waits for something in return, which can lead to frustration. At this time, we are all affected by this energy.
The third lesson is in the area of relationships, which relates to our first lesson. This is something that expands upon matters of the heart. For Aries, love is a conquest, and once they achieve their goal, they can lose interest. We know that relationships are to be built and take hard work. They are not meant to be deserted when we get bored because things are not exciting anymore. It’s up to us to make things more exciting through our work together.
The fourth lesson has to do with problem solving. Aries tends to jump into action without thinking, and there is a phrase connected to Aries about bumping their head against the wall because they don’t care what’s in front of them—they just go. Sometimes this isn’t the wisest approach. Before rushing into conclusions or actions, let’s take a moment to pause and look at things from a broader point of view.
We can use Aries energy to adopt leadership, freshness, and a new start—or a new way of thinking about our lives. This is powerful energy that we can use during this time. We can also learn how to be more sensitive to others—not based on how sensitive they are to us, but from our own perspective, choosing to genuinely care.
Because Aries is a fire sign, it is focused on the “me,” the need to prove oneself, and the desire to succeed. This attitude can be limiting because when everything is about “me,” there is only so much we can receive. But when we become a channel, the Light that can pass through us is endless.
Mars, the planet that rules Aries, is currently in Pisces, which weakens it slightly. There is no such thing as good or bad in a chart—it all depends on how we use the energy. Mars in Pisces can help align our daily material desires with our soul’s desires. Pisces is a sign that is attuned to the universe and listens to its vibrations. This allows us to connect our soul’s desire with our practical desires—what we do day to day, what dictates our actions, and how we can be more truthful to who we are on the inside. What is our real, genuine, and honest desire?
This is a great time to look inward. Even though the energy is active and fast-moving, we can take a few minutes each day to reflect and turn inward. This practice can support our nervous system and help ease worries and anxiety. Ultimately, it can bring us to a place of true initiation, authentic leadership, and inspiration.
