We are settled into Virgo now, both in the sky and, as we noted last week, kabbalistically since the New Moon on August 13th carried us out of Leo. This week the rest of the sky begins to catch up with that shift, building toward a striking moment at the very end of the week when Virgo and its opposite sign, Pisces, meet face to face.
Sunday, August 23: The Sun completes its crossing into Virgo, so it's energy is in full effect. Ruled by Mercury, Virgo is associated with the letter Yud, and with the work of taking stock, identifying what needs correcting, and cleaning house before the new year. It's a fitting note to open the week on.
Monday, August 24: Mercury itself, the planet that rules Virgo, moves out of Leo and into its own sign. This is Mercury coming home. Expect communication to turn more careful and detail-oriented this week, less about performance and more about precision. Kabbalistically, Virgo's gift is the power to purify, to cleanse the world of its imperfections, but that same gift has a shadow side: an overly critical eye, first toward others and, if we're not careful, only belatedly toward ourselves. This is worth watching for as Mercury settles in.
Tuesday and Wednesday, August 25-26: A quieter stretch. Venus continues its steady path through Libra, still asking us to notice balance and reciprocity in our relationships. Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto remain retrograde in Aries and Aquarius, continuing their slower, internal work of testing our foundations and our ideals. Use these two days to consolidate rather than push forward.
Thursday, August 27: This is the pivot point of the week. Mercury moves into exact conjunction with the Sun at 4° Virgo, an alignment sometimes called cazimi in Aramaic, when Mercury sits so close to the Sun that it is said to be "in the heart" of it. Traditionally this is read as a moment of spiritual reset, of unusual mental clarity, when an idea, a decision, or a piece of insight can land with real precision. Use it well; don't waste it on noise.
Then, late Thursday night into Friday, the Full Moon arrives in Pisces, sitting in exact opposition to the Sun and Mercury in Virgo. (This particular Full Moon is technically also a partial lunar eclipse, though its practical effect on us is best understood simply as an unusually potent Full Moon.) Virgo and Pisces are one of the natural opposing pairs of the zodiac, earth facing water, precision facing surrender. Where Virgo wants to analyze, refine, and control the details, Pisces wants to dissolve, feel, and let go entirely. Kabbalistically, Pisces is considered the last and most humble sign of the zodiac, the one whose water holds and stabilizes everything that came before it; it's said that without Pisces, the whole zodiac would fall apart. Having Mercury and the Sun freshly settled into Virgo, then immediately pulled into direct opposition with Pisces, is a real test of that polarity.
Friday, August 28: The Full Moon becomes exact in the very early hours, so its effects are likely to be felt most strongly on Thursday night and through the day Friday. Feelings may run stronger than usual, and old patterns around needing to control every detail, or conversely, needing to escape into fantasy or avoidance, may surface for examination.
Saturday, August 29: Things begin to settle. This is a good day to notice what became clear during the week and to let it integrate rather than immediately acting on it.
The opportunity this week is to let Virgo and Pisces correct each other rather than compete. Virgo's discipline keeps Pisces' compassion from dissolving into escapism; Pisces' surrender keeps Virgo's precision from hardening into judgment. One teaching on the soul's correction process notes that a person whose North Node or tikkune lies in Virgo often carries the unfinished business of a Piscean life before it: too much feeling, not enough discernment. The medicine offered isn't to abandon sensitivity, but to pair it with clear-eyed responsibility. This week's sky is offering all of us a live version of that lesson. Wherever you lean naturally, this is a good week to practice borrowing a little from the other side: if you tend to over-plan and over-critique, let something go unresolved for a day. If you tend to drift and absorb everyone else's feelings, pick one small, concrete thing and finish it. That's the balance point Virgo and Pisces are asking us to find together.
