What a powerful month! The month of Sagittarius is the month of miracles and wonders. It offers us many opportunities for growth, attracting abundance and blessings into our lives. Sagittarius is known to be a fire sign with an internal energy of air. It is also known to be “the explorer” among the signs of the Zodiac—always curious, with a desire to grow, elevate, learn, and connect to universal truths. The sign points us towards our most elevated purpose and meaning.
The planet Jupiter is the ruling planet this month, and it is known to be the “great beneficiary,” meaning it’s the planet that pushes us towards growth, expansion, abundance, and Light. This month, we are all influenced by this energy and able to tap into this month’s unique gifts. At the same time, we can all “fall” into this month’s potential traps and selfish tendencies.
As the sign of Sagittarius always aims “higher,” this month will present us with a challenging energy of detachment, or lack of sensitivity and tact when it comes to the feelings of others. This month especially, we are being called to examine ourselves and our behaviors when it comes to connecting with what we consider to be the “truth.” Truth can have many versions, and our truth is not always aligned with the truth of others or an ultimate truth. Keeping this in mind and developing humility and open-mindedness to others’ perspectives and “truths” will be key this month for deeper spiritual elevation.
Let's take a look at what is showing up cosmically this month, so we can take advantage of the shifts and alignments in the most spiritually elevated manner. First of all, the New Moon begins on November 10th with a great conjunction between the South Node in Leo, Jupiter in Leo, and Mars in Leo. This indicates that it's time to step up, take action, and notice where we need to show up as leaders in our lives (rather than passive followers).
Leo is the sign of the heart, generosity, and leadership—and this conjunction encourages us to step into this inner power. And with Mars involved, we must take action and manifest this inner power. Since the South Node in Leo is also involved in this cosmic scene, we are told to step up and leave behind any ego that is attached to this potential manifestation of our leadership skills and desires. What do we need to leave behind? Any need for validation, recognition, respect, or attention. We are called to follow the spiritual task that the sign of Leo asks of us: Use this mantra on a daily basis this month (as Rav Berg teaches in his book “Kabbalistic Astrology”): “I am a Channel, I’m not the source.”
On November 15th, the Sun, in its last degrees in the sign of Scorpio, before it moves into the sign of Sagittarius (on the 21st), forms a challenging aspect with all of the “Team Leo” planets (Jupiter, Mars, and the South Node as we described before). Be mindful of how you act and speak throughout this week (November 15- 21), avoiding manipulative behavior or attempts to exert control over situations or conversations.
This month we are also blessed to have the holiday of Chanukah—the Holiday of Lights and Miracles, which occurs between December 4th and 12th. During the holiday, we have the opportunity to connect to what we call in Kabbalah the “hidden” Light—all the Light in our lives that is not always obvious and, at times, hides in the more difficult or dark places. Our task is to extract those sparks of Light, elevate them, and connect with and awaken the energy of miracles and wonders.
During this time, Mars is in the sign of Virgo and forms a challenging aspect with Uranus. This challenging aspect is mainly a challenge to our own personal reactive nature. We might be triggered, pushed, poked, and aggravated to react and respond in ways that are not supportive of our spiritual progress, and as we call in Kabbalah, our tikkune. This is a time to meditate, reflect, and take as much time as possible before responding or falling into our reactive nature. This is where the Light of miracles and wonders hides: in our restriction. This powerful opportunity is given to us towards the end of the month of Sagittarius and during the holiday of Chanukah.
